Problem: Design and fabricate a lift to efficiently and accurately raise R&D equipment to existing plane mounts.
Solution: This stand is used to attach heavy R&D equipment to existing plane mounts and requires the ability to lift and pitch. The unit must be able to raise the equipment quickly into range and then fine-tune the vertical adjustment by thousandths of an inch. Forklift tubes add versatility to the design. No tools are required to assemble and disassemble this stand.
Problem: Design and construct a radar enclosure for tower test site.
Solution: R&D equipment is mounted centrally in the unit and the radome hemispheres close to protect it from the environment. Seals and gutters keep water out of the equipment area. Functional and convenient linkages allow for effortless closure of the large hemispheres, and inside double-hinges and springs stabilize the unit when open. Both radome hemispheres open to allow testing and maintenance crews to access the equipment from front and back.
Problem: Design and fabricate a multi-purpose radar stand and lift.
Solution: This stand was designed for use during radar fabrication and assembly, testing, and mounting to the wing of the aircraft. For these diverse applications, the stand must be able to precisely lift, pitch and roll the equipment. An internal mount and lock mechanism allows the equipment to be spun along its axis from a balanced center of gravity position, ensuring incremental and stable movement. One end of the stand works on a pivot so that the jack cylinders can be used independently without contorting the frame. Four corner legs stabilize the unit, and forklift tubes add versatility to the design.
